School Field Trips to the Farm
Spring field trips are available beginning March 13th!
As soon as the children get off the bus they will begin the learning experience without even realizing that the farm is a "lesson"! The children will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly and search for butterfly eggs, monarch caterpillars and chrysalis in our Butterfly Garden. If you’re lucky you may even see a Monarch drying her wings.
Manna Fields Farm has planted Texas wild flowers for you to enjoy. (I sure hope they come up!) And don’t miss our baby animals, including chicks, baby goats, and a new calf. A Hay Ride around the farm and Farm Train rides, as well as Hay Mountain, will be a part of the tour.
Fall field trips begin in September
The fall tour includes the Corn Maze in lieu of the Butterfly Garden since most of the spring flowers will be gone.
Field trips last approximately 2 hours . Field trips begin at 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Plan on staying at least 2 hours and longer if you want to have a picnic lunch. Teachers will be given a schedule upon arrival to help guide them to different stations around the farm. You can make reservations online or by phone (979-849-2697).
Make sure you bring an old sheet or table cloth for the children to picnic on. (We do have teacher tables for those not wishing to sit on the ground.)
Please remember that the children work up quite a thirst running around and you might want to send extra water for them. Have their parents add a water bottle to their lunch because those little juice boxes are not enough.
Field trips are by reservation only and done through out the week. The cost is $5.00 for students. One teacher FREE!!! per class. Additional aids or chaperones - $5.00 ea. Parents, with permission of the school, $8.00 ea.
Note: Although the farm officially opens in March, the wild flowers will be at their best in April. You may want to reserve for field trip for when the flowers will be at their best.
